Not totally sure...but this sounds like what has happened to me before...where something...either on my camera-body setting, or *on* the lens itself...*or* that little button near the lens/body connection (auto focus/manual focus over-ride button) is not set like you think it is - and it Auto-focuses, when you think you're on Manual....frustrating...and sometimes it's just a setting. Been there, and I'll be there again, I'm sure.

But, like I said...not totally sure this is what's happening - but sure sounds like it based on what happens to me too.
