And because I'm so anal, he now puts the whelping crib in the Guest Room and takes over the care of mom and the pups until they are about 4 weeks old......then they come into our room. Of course all the girls in the house are his and have a bond with him. He's always so calm, cool and loving with them. We work well as a team. He hasn't got the danger signs, he depends on me for that. You should see him milk down a pup until it gets to the birth canal. Knows how to gently turn a pup when it is presenting itself head up. He does all the tails and dew claws..... |
My husband refused to hold the puppies for the tails and dew claw removal, so I ended up taking them to the vet for it. He said he can't see hurting them at all. He was talking baby talk to them this morning while trying to bottle feed them. It's funny to watch, and I thought men were suppose to be tough. He's my night in shining armor. I don't know what I would do without him.
