I had a litter last October, when my mom went down when the pups were a week old. She didn't have eclampsia or a retained placenta, but her horn had ripped during the whelping process (wasn't discovered until we had her spayed in February). Not fun hand raising pups and taking care of mom's needs at the same time. The massive antibiotics and IV that were administered and being at the vets for 3 days dried her up.
