I assumed she rescued Sadie directly without going through a rescue group or shelter. I always use the word "adopt" when referring to getting a dog through a rescue as they were the ones who actually rescued the dog. Maybe that's what she meant?
I agree with the others about spaying her. She will be much healthier as you will never have to worry about her getting pyometra(life threatening uterine infection) when she gets older.
