Actually it's not a day or two, it's a few months. Dogs cannot go straight to Hawaii - they must be quarantined for 120 days (unless you start the quarantine on the mainland first and finish some quarantine time there). Hawaii is completely rabies-free and they take great care to keep any sick pets off the island. Taking a pet to Hawaii is a lengthy and expensive process.
