 Giardia
My dog had giardia and I bought him from an excellent breeder who lived on a farm. Vet treated him with high dose of metro....(whatever) once daily for 7 days. His stool improved by the third day. I washed all his bedding and everything he touched with chlorox and hot water and detergent. He'll go back to the vet for a recheck. He's only 9 weeks now. His appetite is great now. The breeder was concerned-her farm was very clean, but I was told by authorities that the giardia could come from the water in this rural area. I'll continue to listen to my vet, but vet has told me these things occur in many puppies. Vet wanted to treat with high daily dose to deal with it quickly. Hope this helps. Also told me to pick up all poop to avoid reinfection. |
