Q: would you own two Yorkies? same age/same litter/both females (don't want a male.
Story below or you can just answer the question... Thank you
Our 13yr old+ Yorkie died on Oct 11 of natural causes. She died in her sleep. She was in basically perfect health, but over the last few months we could see the "signs" that her time was near. Just when we thought it was time, she would then proceed to act like her old self and play like a puppy. Had her checked out at the vet and everything was "normal".
The morning of her death we were getting ready for church and she just wasn't acting right. Apparently right after we left for church she crawled into her bed and died. When we came home she looked like she was sleeping peacefully, all curled up in her bed like normal, but she had passed on. We are so glad she didn't have to go thru any major health problems and she was our baby. Went thru the normal grieving process (I didn't think I'd ever stop crying- men aren't suppose to cry you know-

.
We've always had dogs our entire 30 yr marriage, not to mention owning dogs during our entire childhoods.
Longer story shorter- it's too darn quiet in our house. we weren't going to get another dog, but that idea went out the window.
Local breeder came out our house to interview us, check out our home, ect and she even brought the pups and mom with her. So between Christmas and New Years we will be buying TWO Yorkies. We always wanted two but we didn't want to introduce a new dog into our home when we already had one Yorkie.
Been reading the pro and cons of owning two and we know a couple of people that have had two without any major problems.
From what I've read, we have to make sure one of the dogs doesn't become too dominate and we have to be the PACK LEADER. No problem there, all our dogs have been trained by us and all have done well.
We haven't paid our deposit yet because we will not finalize the deal until we go to the breeder house and see both parents and we want to wait until around 8 weeks anyway to see how the interact, ect.
Breeder said she normal doesn't sell two to one family, but as we have extensive experience with yorkies and was able to answer her questions(and she was able to answer all of ours) that she would allow it.
I've seen a few minor threads here about owning two but didn't see anything in detail of pro or con.
You insights appreciated.....
