I know that I have a long road ahead of me that will be filled with lots and lots of work, practice, preparation, consideration, heartbreak and rejection. I also realize that at one point each and every breeder was new too and just as inexperienced as I am now. I know that not all yorkies should be bred which is exactly why I had my Harley fixed. The more I learned and the more 'homework' I did I came to the realization that he is not breeding material. (not to imply that he isn't a wonderful pet

) I do not plan to rush into any breeding either. I am only 19yrs old and still have a huge future ahead of me. I'm in college and still live at home. Becoming a good and respectable breeder is a dream of mine that I am willing to sacrafice anything to accomplish. I need/want a breeder mentor and I'm working on trying to find someone within my area and who has time for me. I also realize that I don't know every single thing about the breeding program but I only want to learn more. If a breeder with excellent pedigree puppies does not want to sell a pup to an inexperienced future breeder like me than that's ok with me. I respect everyone who protects their babies bc I know they've worked VERY hard to get where they are and to get healthy, happy and beautiful dogs. (If they were all for handing over one of their babies without deep investigation I would be worried and wonder whether this were the breeder I want to become involved with) I said that I would like a show quality pup with a great pedigree with excellent health backgrounds bc I only want to breed for the standard. And the only reason I would most likely not show them is bc it's that part of breeding that doesn't interest me at this point in my life. I cannot help that. And if that will keep me from being able to get a great dog with healthy breeding perspectives then I'm not sure what to do.
I also only posted this thread bc there is no 'yorkietalk directory' that lists what users are breeders and which are not, let alone mention which ones are reputable, experienced and in this for the betterment of the breed not the money. So I posted this hoping that someone could point me in the right direction to people who I could begin to build a relationship and friendship with for a chance of a future dog purchase or breeding.
