I know these are tough posts for you, but it is reality. Good breeders protect their lines, because they have to. Not everyone does their homework and do right by the standard. They even might say they will, but then don't when they have you out of the picture. Behind our lines are thousands and thousands of hours in research... learning, stydying pedigrees and photos and viewing of dogs, show hours, grooming, nurturing, talking to others, etc.. It is our name too! One person told me that all we really have when you get down do it - is your name and behind that is your reputation. It is for the betterment of or breed and love of our dogs that we do protect our lines. Novices should respect this and you will learn as you go. You would not want a doctor to operate on you unless he had years of research/studying and practice. I have seen a lot of changes that have happen to the yorkie breed since I was away and now returned - 20 years ago I would have never heard of a chocolate/blue pups, liver shunt, or LP. It is not uncommon now to see a yorkie go over its 7 pound standard limit. Why? Could it be because some people breed without doing their research and just breed, because they wanted pups? Honestly - you can't and shouldn't breed all yorkies. They have to be as close to the standard as possible and you have to know the lines and back history/condition of the dogs and their ancestors to get an idea what you would produce ahead of time. Questions for only you to ask yourself: What line does your dog come from? How close is he to the standard? Did his grandparents have any problems? How was the coloring of his parents? What fault does my dog have and how can I fix it? Should I really breed my dog - what traits could he pass on? Etc..
So it is not because we are being mean or don't think well of you - this is knowledge that we are passing on to you to help, because we love our yorkies and are dedicated to them. This is not to say that you are not. But once you have paid your dues (like we have) and learned more about the breed you will understand what we are talking about. One can ruin all of our work in just one breeding and there goes the standard and our name with it.
