Not sure yet) but want to get the highest quality possible. Meaning, I really want to purchase from a breeder on yorkietalk who I can trust, talk to whenever, see their bloodlines, health records.. I mean the whole deal. I want/need show ring quality/potential and a total mirror image of the breed standard. The money really isn't an issue bc with time I can save up as much as needed. But what would be great is if breeders on yorkietalk who would be interested in selling to me later in the future then please pm me and fill me in.
Note: I want AKC FULL registration with breeding rights. So if you don't offer this option then I am not interested. I can promise any and everyone of you that may reply to this that I plan on making breeding my life and I am totally dedicated to this breed. Feel free to bug or question me! I'm an open book! |
You had better be ready to be an open book and answer a lot of questions.
You are asking a breeder to place a lot of trust in you. Be prepared to be turned down by a lot of breeders until they get to know you better and have a good idea on your plans for breeding.
Most breeders will not place the qaulity of pup that you are asking for until they trust you, you have a mentor, and have shown that you have researched the breed and know what you are doing. It will be hard to purchase a show male - that you do not intend to show- but just want to breed.
You should look at puppies that are at least 6 months old- glad that price is not a option because you are looking at $3,500.00 to $5,000.00 for what you state you are wanting.
I have two males that I will be using for stud- they are both Ch. sired and one has a Champion dam. The father on both of these boys sired the Top Winning Show Bitch for 2004 and she also was BOS at Westminster. Will I sell puppies from these boys this spring to someone that I do not know and trust - no way. Folks who want puppies out of these boys are going to have to show that they have done thier homework. I have done mine.
You need to visit websites and dogshows- look and see who has the type of dog that you like. Contact those breeders and start to develop a relationship
with them. You need to get your foot in the door and build trust and let them know that you are responsible and understand what the breed standard call for. Get a mentor close to home- and learn and talk and talk be a sponge and take all the information in that you will need to meet your goal.
