Wow, how sad. It has been proven over and over that dogs respond best to positive behavioral interventions. Dogs do not learn from being hit. In fact, you should NEVER hit a dog for ANY REASON whatsoever. The only thing you teach it is to not trust a human hand. That can lead to fear aggression or distrust.

As an aside, a yorkie should never be leash corrected either.
