I know it is a very long surgery. Lady's ophthalmologist told me it was the longest procedure they do. Will they explain the surgery to you beforehand and answer your questions to reassure you? |
Well, the Dr. has given Maddie Pilocarpine. This is to stimulate any neurological problem that "may" be preventing messages from being sent to send tears to her eye. However, he was very honest and said it is pretty unlikely this is the cause. He felt pretty confident Maddie was without the proper 'plumbing' in her left eye
and surgery would be necessary. We go back December 7th.
This is what was explainded to me about the surgery. They will shave the left side of her face
and through an incision just under the eye, they will connect a duct from a saliva gland to her eye duct.
He only mentioned a few drawbacks but did say we would go through it in more detail should we decide to do this.
You were right, UT was wonderful. I feel confident they would willingly answer my questions or concerns.
