I have had pups who's ears did not come up until they were nearly 6 months old. I also have had a pup who's ear tipped at 5 months and never came back up. It can be frustrating but I would hope you love your baby just the way he is. Some people actually like the floppy eared look, even though it is not correct. Just keep shaving the ear and feed him a good quality puppy food.
Another tip it to make sure the pups ears are clean and free of infection. If you notice him shaking his head or scratching his ears that could indicate he has a problem.
It really bothers me when people automatically think a dog is poorly bred just because it has floppy ears or some other physical fault and that the breeder is a bad breeder. Even show breeders, not matter how careful they plan a breeding, will occasionally have a pup that just does not meet the standard. These are sold as pet pups. Pet pups are just as sweet and lovable as a 'perfect' pup but they just cost less. All pups deserve loving homes no matter what they look like. |
