Until recently, I had my yorkie and a 50lb collie so I found that NV medallions was just too expensive. I would go thru a whole bag in just a day or two! So that's why I switched to PMR. I actually buy the same food I would buy myself at the grocery store. Alot of chicken quarters - I get those for .59 a lb and we have a local store that sells 10lb bads. Then I fill in with other things. I also posted an ad on craigslist asking for freezer burnt meat. I've been given ALOT of food and I also joined a yahoo group that has a coop of people that join together and get the food at wholesale prices. Actually, last March I joined in with them and spent $100 on food and my collie passed away a few days later so I have 1/2 a freezer full and have not had to spend any money - or not much anyways on my yorkies because of that. Of course, that would be a different story if my collie were still alive but it gives you an idea. That's what I do but it wouldn't hurt to ask your butcher but you just want to stay away from the weight bearing bones of large animals - namely cows. My collie chewed easily thru chicken bones and did good with pork bones as well but my yorkie can only get thru chicken bones so it really depends on your dogs as well. Hope that helps!
