| Thinking of going RAW?? For those of you who feed raw... Do you use the medallions, like from Nature's Variety, or do you get meet and bones from a butcher?? Is there a benefit of one from the other, cost, ease of use, etc.? Also, if getting from a butcher, how do you know how much to feed?? Thanks for your help!

| I feed NV medallions and my gang loves them. I'm not sure one is any better than the other, I just like premade for the convenience. It's already nutrionally balanced so I don't have to worry about that or about supplementing and they giving you serving size guidelines.

| I LOOOOOOVVVVEEEE RAW We use the premade frozen raw and had Nature's Variety for about 8 months until my dog got sick and then would not eat it anymore (assicoated it with being sick.) Now we use Primal premade raw and are in heaven again. It's so easy to use and the dogs just go crazy over it. Snickers has a lush gorgeous coat, sparkling white teeth (I barely brush them-I should more often) and he has NO doggy smell, he smells sweet!!!!!! If you decide to go with NV, they will send you a buy one bag get one free coupon and it's a great deal!! | I just started feeding Rambo the Natures Variety Medallion and boy what a difference. I tried everything and he barely ate any of it until I started him on the Medallion Chicken. Cause I live in Windsor, I had to search on the internet who sold this variety and found a place on Walker Rd. called For Your Fury Friends.

This is where I get our NV medallions too. I see your coming from Tecumseh, they actually sell it at the Pet wise on Jefferson Blvd near Tecumseh road. Saves you a bit of distance. | |

| I mostly feed a prey model raw diet! So meat and bones from the butcher for me! I actually find it to be way less expensive! I buy meat right from the grocery store - the same stuff I might buy for my family. But I also let friends and family members know that if they have freezer burnt meat, don't throw it out - I can feed it to my dogs! I get lots of free meat that way. I'm looking for some venison now as it's been awhile since they've had that! I do on occassion buy Natures Variety. It is more expensive but sometimes I like it just for convenience. It's easy to pop a medallion out of the freezer and it will thaw pretty quickly. When I buy NV though, I buy the big tubes then I thaw it and I press it into a mini muffin pan I have and I make my own medallions. I freeze them and then put them into a baggie and then it's easy to pop just a couple out to feed in an hour. Hope that makes sense! | I feed NV Raw too, but I believe raw prey diet would be more economical if you have time to find some good buys and already had a freezer to store it in. I would love to feed raw prey diet, but I just don't have the time or energy, NV Raw medallions are soooooo easy and Bonnie loves them! |

| I feed Jimi the Nature's Variety Raw medallions it is soo easy and he loves the raw in any variety. I am sure that the prey model raw diet is cheaper, but it is not as convenient for me. if you have the time to do it, though, I would go for it! Whatever way you choose, good luck going raw! We love it at my house

| for those of you who use the NV raw medallions, do you leave the medallion "whole" or break it into pieces? also, do you feed it thawed straight from the refrigerator or warm it a bit in the microwave? I recently purchased some of the medallions and was trying to transition my Maddie into them so I would mix half a medallion with her usual kibble (that she won't eat without something mixed in, have never found a kibble she will eat without added chicken, cheese or something!). If the mixed raw/kibble was in a big blob, she acted like she wasn't able to eat it until I separated it out some. I recently got a raw recipe to make at home from RachelandSadie and am considering giving that a try since no one locally sells the NV medallions, the closest store is an hour away. |

| When I fed NV, I always would cut it up into at least 8 pieces and serve it always in a stainless steel dish. Snick stopped eating it and now we are using Primal. I actully like Primal ALOT more. This company is incredible and their website it top notch with all kinds of information. Primal does not make any type of kibble, they feel raw is the only way to go and the only type of diet they sell. Nv is wonderful as well and it works so great for so many people. Snick's stellar good looks are all from the 8 months of Nv he ate. I cannot rave about a raw diet enough!! Someone earlier asked about price. I paid 23 dollars for a 4lb bag of Primal nuggets which has 64 nuggets in it. I use 2 nuggets a day so it is about $0.72 cents a day for me to feed Snick raw. If I ffed Snick a rotation diet (raw in the morn and kibble in the evening) then its about $0.35 cents a day for raw plus whatever the kibble would total. So is raw more expensive--YES!! Is it worth it?? COMPLETELY!!!!!! Personally I would not mix the kibble and the raw. I have a few times that feeding kibble and raw together could hurt the digestive system and if you're feeding a rotation diet, to allow about 6 hours between feeding kibble and raw. I could be wrong about this, please be sure to check for yourself Smiles- Snick & Viv
