It's not necessarily a bad habit, as long as they'll still eat when they're hungry without you. Stella hates her bowl for everything except water (she likes to dip her head in her water, especially after I just brushed her...). I just use her actual bowl as food containment so I know how much of her day's food she's eaten. She uses either the
IKEA small kids bowls (super cheap, practically disposable) or a paper plate/her food mat to actually eat off of. Even then, sometimes she still carries each piece of food off to chew it individually, so we have to keep her contained to the kitchen or I'll find crumbs and pieces stashed everywhere!
Sometimes I still prompt her to eat by feeding a few pieces first out of my hand if I'm in a hurry, but in general, she'll eat when she's hungry on her own. Good luck with your baby!
