My sister had also suggested AI. She bred yorkies many years ago, then she bred shelties . . .she had her sheltie AI because of the same issues that I am having . . .but I really haven't researched that idea at all, so I don't know much about it.
Another issue maybe is that Rhianna goes into heat like clockwork quarterly, this was her third heat, so it's another possibility that maybe she isn't fertile every heat. I did feel bad for Brody because he really tried, but tying just wasn't happening for him. . . |
AI is not as difficult as it sounds. Pretty simple as a matter of fact, once shown how, a piece of cake.
Remember the bitch initiates the tie...she's the one that determines how long the tie is going to last by relaxing her muscles.....so, your boy may have done all the right things.....it may have been her.
If you're unsure of Rhianna's fertility have your vet do ovulation testing. In some cases the bitch make ovulate before she is willing to accept the male, in those cases, artificial insemmination may be the only answer.
