I agree with much you say. They could have 100 of them as far as I am concerned, but you need to pay the cost to be sure they are contained at ALL times. Isn't there some other famous sports figure whose neighbors recently brought charges against him because he has like 20 or so of them that are roaming free at will?
Go back and look at the video and look at the rickety fence with a dumbell weight put there to block a hole in it. This is where his dogs got through to enter a neighbor's yard and almost eat her dog alive.
I had next door neighbors who had one, and I stood in my back yard and watched it rip the planks out of the fence like tissue paper one at a time to get at my yorkie.
SO they garage door was open, they were NOT in their crates, and out they came to practically eat this lady and her dog.
I really don't need 100 posts attached to this about how gentle some are and it is all in how they were raised yada yada, this breed had the capcacity to inflict great harm on other animals and people.
I see to it that my girl NEVER get out loose for their protection, so if you have a pit bull, it is YOUR responsibility to keep it controled and under supervision at all times, regardless of it's personality, THAT is my point.
I used to job at 4:00 AM, and at least 3 times I had to walk my neighbor's pit back home as I found her like 3 streets over.
You need a strong chain link fence with barriers dug underneath (in case they try to burrow out), PERIOD.
