Yorkies will bark, that is a sure thing. But you can do things that will limit excessive barking.

First of all, make sure they get enough exercise so they are not doing it out of boredom.

When my pup hears a noise outside and starts to bark, I have her come to me to "look" and take her to the window to check it out and we talk about what it is--"oh, that is the neighbors, it is okay." or "Here comes the garbage truck."

When we are playing chase in the house, she will start barking and barking, so I give her a toy to have in her mouth and she can't bark as she runs around getting chased!

You can also teach them to "Speak" and then "quiet."

I don't want to keep her from barking if she needs to tell me something, just put a limit on being yappy!

Want to hear what others do. Please give more advice.
