When my new families bring up the potty training issue, I explain what to do and then ask them; when you brought your baby home from the hospital, did you place it in the middle of the floor and tell here's your house. Same thing with a pup, it's a baby.
We crate trained and started with a small area and made it bigger and bigger. She is basically trained, just for some reason she decides to go other places once in a while. Like she might leave something in our bedroom once every few weeks and she goes in our room all day every day. She won't even go in the same place in our room, she just goes.
