She needs to hear a little anger so she realizes how much she is messing up here. Then maybe she will start taking her responsibility more seriously. She probably does have a pregnant female. She needs to take the advice given here and (1) get her female to the vet and (2) study like crazy to learn what she needs to know about taking care of a pregnant female, whelping and caring for the puppies. I know there may be a fine line between getting her attention and not running her off. But at the same time, I would not want to ignore the lack of concern she seems to be showing for the welfare of this girl.
It is very important to get the female to a vet. Since she knows little about yorkies and breeding, I doubt the female has been evaluated as to her physical ability to carry a litter, any disease or condition that might make pregnancy a danger, and her overall health.
I won't harp on her for letting the dogs breed (and who knows if they were breeding candidates or compatible to each other) since that is a done deal, but now that she is probably pregnant, I think she needs to get the message loud and clear that she has a responsibility to do everything possible to ensure the health and safety of the dam and puppies. If she is unable or unwilling to do that, she needs to turn her over to a rescue as soon as possible. There is NO EXCUSE for letting a dog go without proper care. You take them on, and you owe them health care, quality nutrition, and a safe and loving environment. |
