I was listening to National Public Radio while driving my daughter to school this morning, and they had an interesting piece on pet insurance. Did you know that people with PI spend twice as much money on the medical costs of their pets? Interesting.

I have been meaning to purchase PI for Daisy; I have spent thousands of dollars on ACL (ski injuries to the knee, in humans) surgeries for a Golden Retriever in the past. Our local pet emergency hospital moved to a brand new building a few years back......I joke that we paid for one of the walls! While I am very grateful to have such a facility close by, I don't ever want to do that again.

I am overwhelmed by the number of insurance plans, and would like to make sure I go with one that is reputable. Does anyone have recent experience with a particular insurance company? Have you had to file a claim, and how did that go?

Any advice would be much appreciated.
