I think the trick is to find the thing that
Taffy finds rewarding, which is not necessarily a food reward. Does she have a favorite toy? I have seen trainers hand over a 'special squeaky' for a few moments of play after a dog does a good job with a specific behavior. (Daisy has a tiny piggy we found at PetCo that she loves so much; it has exactly the right amount of squish and will fit into her little mouth easily.)
