I'm sorry to hear of that. That was my worry, too, but Scarlett's babies were full term, by appearance, which was surprising. I was sure of my dates as there was only one tie.
I would have been out the door to the vet with her but she caught us off guard. There were no visible signs of labor....just that her water broke and there was a pup's leg...no sac. I grabbed the baby's leg but Scarlett quit contracting and the baby went back up. This was a night time whelp so my wife went to get dressed after calling the vet to let them know we were coming. I stayed with Scarlett until she got ready then went to throw on some pants. While I did that, Scarlett had another contraction and the baby's legs were again presented. My wife grabbed them again and this time Scarlett contracted again and the baby came out. Wonder of all wonders, he was fine and this was about 7 minutes from the first presentation. We called the vet and stayed home for the rest of the whelp and she had no further problems but talk about an adrenaline rush...that was it!
