I don't know i have alway's let them nurse til at least 5 week's & i still didn't push Can food on them unless they wanted it. The last litter they still nursed off of there mother til 10 week's while eating some canned & dry. I think the longer the better.
i do it this way. i guess some people start weaning at 3 weeks to get them new Homes at 5 -6 week's.

Even if they are starting to eat the canned they should be nursing or bottle fed at 3 week's. If the mother doesn't really want to nurse this early especially since it doesn't want the canned i would Try a bottle.
