You reacted purely on instinct I agree. Small dogs+big dogs+excited kids is bound to = trouble. This is why I stopped taking my two to my sisers house for their Saturday play date with her 2 cocker spaniels [English]. Not because of the dogs but because her youngest daughter gets overly excited and wont sit still and constantly wants to pick the little-ones up. Doesn't listen when told not to as I think she gets a little jelous of the ayyention the dogs get- she has a low level of learning disability- so has trouble with matching actions with words. I'd rather keep my two safe at home. You need to forgive yourself for this little mistake and move on. As Ceaser says, dogs live in the moment.
