This may be an yeast infection or even ear mites, you might have more specific answers if you write a thread in the sick forum, I have very limited information on illnesses, but I know that this is something that you should treat promptly. There should be no bad smells coming from your pup. Please call your vet about this, I think it's important to have a phone relationship with your vet and his staff, and they will let you know if it's necessary to see the vet. Please let us know what the vet says.
Pups tend to put everything in their mouths, if he's actually eating the grass I would tell the vet about this as well.
