Here's how I make it:
1 bar of Fels-Naptha Laundry Soap
1 cup of Borax
1 cup of Arm and Hammer Super WASHING Soda (NOT baking soda)
Grate the soap VERY fine and mix all together. This recipe will make 64 loads I think. You only need to use between 1/2-1 tablespoon per load. I usually use 1/2 unless I have a SUPER large or very soiled load and then I use closer to 1tbl. The only place I have found the Washing Soda is at Kroger (I had to call around) - they have all 3 ingredients but WalMart (and most other stores) carry the other 2 ingredients no problem. And this is great for the energy efficient machines as well (b/c its not sudsy). I seriously think everyone should do it! |
Thaks for the recipes! I am going to definitely try them. I've been wanting to try the detergent one as I have the he washer. I still have some detergent left so once I go thru that I am going to start.

I was so proud of myself last night, I just went to Food lion and got the bogos sales on meats and got 15 meals worth of meats for just over $18.00!! Woo hoo! I am a happy camper.

I still have to buy veggies to complete the dishes but at least the main ingredient were a bargin!
Another thing that I finally started to do is buy a bigger roast and cut it down into 3rds. This way we can still have roasts (I used to never cook them for just the 2 of us) so now I look for the larger pieces so I can get 3 portions out of them. The portions generallyl will run about $2.00 - $2.50 after all said and done.
