Welcome to the board. I don't think you are supposed to let them go potty in the crate. Everything I've heard or read about crate training is the opposite. You are supposed to section off the crate leaving only enough room for them to be comfortable. Dogs do not like to be near their poo/pee so they make a fuss when it's time to go rather than do it and be stuck by it. Once they are trained and let you know when it is time to go out, you give them access to the whole crate. Of course this method is only possible if you are going to be there when they are in the crate. I am far from an expert though so anyone correct me if I am wrong.
The best advice I can give is be patient. They are babies. Some puppies won't get full bladder control until 3 to 6 months. Good luck.
