If you have some on hand, you can try giving him some flax seed. When I got my baby, she started becoming terribly dry and flaky, so I ground up some flax and gave it to her. It worked really well, but flax is ALA and must be converted to EPA/DHA to be any benefit to the dog. Not all dogs' bodies can make that conversion. If you don't have any on hand, the fish oil is a better way to go.
