The main reasons that have been given is that it's so new. I know they do trials, but it's only a few months old. (swine vaccine) Our hospital is giving them to us at no charge, both the flu and the vaccine. I have probably talked to about 10 people this week alone regarding it and out of those, they are refusing to take the swine few vaccine and a few will not be getting flu shots either. So far I have yet to hear of any reactions besides one person. (but they are allergic to preservatives)
I personally have never taken any flu vaccinations that I can remember, so that is why it concerns me a bit. I have a pretty strong immune system (so far) and really don't get sick very often. The ones most at risk are the young, elderly or those that have a compromised immune system. But they say the ones that are getting it the most are school age (kindergarden through college) which means that being 25 I am more suseptible of getting it, but most likely I can fight it off.
