The most important thing I found, besides health, and a GREAT repoir with your vet... (a phone call can save you $, if your vet will 'chat' with you! ) is a STRICK schedual, eating, sleeping, playing, and pottying! My fella was 9 months old before I let him miss his afternoon nap! If he didn't go to nap on his own, I would put him away, for it! He slept through the night from the first night...
My grand theory of ALL dogs... large and small ... " If it would not be cute behaviour at 70 pounds, it is not cute at 7 pounds"... nipping, begging, etc
Thems is my words of wisdom ...congrats on the baby, get some pictures up! Good luck!! |
oh,yes and I was also told to NEVER wake a sleeping puppy, they need their rest and as stated above if they don't take it make them. For small toy breeds hypoglyemia can set in and that is not good. I did hear that after four month's you don't really need to be concerned but still.
make sure they have SAFE toys to chew on, their little teeth hurt and will hurt you. Don't ever allow for them to bite you when they play and teach them that it is ok for them to lay on their backs when you play and pet them.
Feed them GOOD quality puppy food and when and if you need to switch brands do it slowly so their tummy's do not get upset.
I read a lot and asked and am still asking questions to all these wonderful folks on this site but have learned a lot. We rehomed Miracle a week before she had her babies and Rebel is the first furbaby I have owned from the time he was born. We also have a dashaund but we got him when he was almost five months old and bigger than these little babies.
