My little dog Moses broke his leg the day after I got him. He was 10 months old. I have had 2 yorkies for the past 6 years and they always slept with us and would jump off our bed with no problem. Before anyone screams, we did lift them down most times, but when the refrigerator door opens, down they would go before we could catch them. So, I put Moses on our bed with Isabel, and early in the morning I got up to go to the bathroom. My other dogs always stayed still when I got up, but not thinking about him being in a new environment and being nervous, I left him on the bed. He jumped down to get to me and broke his leg. Guilt is not even the word. I just didn't think he would be any different from my Harley (who was killed by a dog in Dec) and Isabel. Anyway, we took him to the vet, he set his leg and after 2 months, decided it wasn't healing, bone was deterioating, so he amputated it. Poor little Mosey, new home and loses his leg! Does he notice? Nope. Like you said, he was up the next day and now it's been 4 months later, he runs, plays, does everything (except jump off the bed!!). He is my sweety and while I can now get up at night to pee and he doesn't come too, he is still at my feet every step I take when I am home. I am extra careful with him, but really, he is a happy, healthy little guy and we wouldn't rrade him for the world. Now Isabel might have a different story! |
