Well, after giving her more time and trying to calm myself (sometimes I wonder who is in need of the most training), she started coming to the outside of the xpen and crying for me. I would go to her but if I approached with my hand, she would run. So I gingerly gave her attention verbally and then climbed into the pen (is quite a decent size) and sat down. She came and sat on me and let me brush her while I held a rubber bone in the other hand - our normal evening ritual. After some time with her, she is better now and is showing no signs of pain but rather apprehension towards hands. I would suspect that this could be due to the shots and the AG expressing. She is getting better as time goes on and given loads of patience.
Zoey's mama is sighing a huge breathe of relief. I think if I had had children all of this may come easier, but I have loads of patience and love so all should work out well in the end.
Thank you so much for giving me your insight and allowing me a place to share and learn!!
