I wouldn't worry about dumping out the nutrients...dog food is pretty hard stuff. I also microwaved Stella's food (sometimes still do if she doesn't want to eat when I put the food down). I got the organic low sodium chicken broth and put maybe a tablespoon in her food dish with the kibble and then microwaved it for about 8-10 seconds, then stirred it up and gave it to her. It softened it up just enough for her to gum it a bit when she was teething but not enough to make it mushy.
