Animal Smiley 019 McCoy and his yearly Yeast Infection

For the past two years we have had our 3 year old Yorkie come down with something at this time every year. On the surface, it looks as if he is having an allergy to something, but after further investigation I am convinced he has an over abundance of yeast in his system. His visual signs are hair loss, red sores, EXCESSIVE scratching, watery eyes and weight loss. Don't forget to mention the nasty odor that he is excreting and the unsightly oily skin.

Last year it took me about 7 months to finally clear up all his symptoms. I put him on a strict organic diet, a daily supplement of fish and omega oils, fattening foods and his favorite daily bowl of plain yogurt. He was bathed every two days with a sulfa medicated shampoo and oatmeal. This was teadious, but the vets didn't know what was wrong with him and it seemed to work.

Well, now he has it again. I was reading that giving him his yearly vaccinations could very well set off an excess of yeast in his system and to combat this we should give him an anti-inflammatory at the time of his shots. Other than that, we have not been given any good advice from our vets, and we have tried 5 different ones! However, we can not give him this anti-inflam since we already got the shots and didn't know about it.

He is horribly uncomfortable and leaving hair all over my house. We are trying any natural supplements that we can, and have also found that the normal Listerine helps cure the daily itching (given in his bath on the skin).

Has anybody else had to deal with this in their Yorkie, and how was it combated? At this point, we are beyond our Vets advice and trying anything we can do ourselves to help him manage the daily reactions and get him back to health. His appetite is good, and his attitude is normal. He is on a completely natural organic diet and Yogurt and supplements.
