my SIL wants to get rid of their cat because it scratches stuff. well get the thing

Again this goes back to the lack of trainning. At a young age kittens can be taught to scratch a particular item. I bottle fed 4 kittens a year a go and fromt he begining they used a scratching post. If they attempted my furniture I sprayed them with a water bottle it only takes a few times and they get the idea. DECLAWING is NOt the answer. It is cruel and a very very painful procedure. Many vets will no longer declaw because of the pain and then the animal has no way to protect itself. Think about the pain of having your nails ripped out from it's growth plate OUCH! anyways just another educational tidbit!!!!!
