Usually breeders wait at least 12 weeks (at the earliest!!) before letting anyone bring them home. Especially with yorkies because they are so small, it's better to keep them longer to make sure they are getting the right nutrition. With that said, i would definitely switch him back to what the breeder was feeding him before, at least for the first week or 2 and then you should gradually switch the brands. Mix 3/4 of the old food with 1/4 of the new food for a few days, then mix half and half, then 1/4 old 3/4 new, until eventually he is eating just the new brand. This should be done very gradually since Yorkies tummies are VERY sensitive. I'm saying all this because since he is so young and has been taken from his mother and litter mates so early, he is more prone to stress. So his tummy problems could be a mixture of stress and his food change.

Oh and yes, Eukanuba is very bad! If you look at the first 10 ingredients it includens chicken by-product, chicken fat and beet pulp!!! By-products can cause lots of health issues and chicken fat and beet pulp are also used in bad dog foods because it tricks the dogs into eating something that they normally would never eat. Please consider this. I've been feeding Innova and my pup loves it.

The breeder sent him home as his mother lives across the country was diagnosed with cancer and the family was all going to be with her in her final days. I wasn't expecting her quite yet....but since my vet and their vet both knew each other and knew my experience with small dogs[ had a toy poodle and shih tzu for years] they decided to send him to me instead of boarding him with the vet or a foster inbetween[ since I also use to rescue and foster all sorts of dogs]. I had stopped when I got sick and my brain went to mush hahah.....all this about the food is making my head spin.....LOL he's back on 3/4 purina puppy chow and 1/4 eukanuba for the time being...and it seems to have worked....I spoke with the breeders vet this morning.
Thanks all...I know we all have differing opinions what makes forums such a great place
