I also have 4 dogs and they will all use the pads at times. Only the youngest, Rocky uses the pads all the time. The others mostly go outside but have used the pads more since Rocky has been with us. Used to be they only used a pad when I was gone. In fact, I only put down a pad when I was leaving the house. But now with Rocky needing pads all the time (I hae not convinced him to go outside yet), they all seem to hit the pads occasionally even when they have just been outside.

I too, change the pads whenever I see 2 or more pees and pick up the poop as soon as I see it so Rocky does not play with it and even more so for a cleaner home. I order the larger sized pads from YT vendor RDB911. With the larger pads, I have found less problem with them hitting the pad, or standing only partially on it. They still will occasionally go off the side, just a peril of pad use. But the larger pads really help. Only problem is I have not found a pad holder to fit the larger pads, so just have to put them on the floor alone.
This is what I do also. Sophie is outside trained, Ivan came peepad trained. We are weaning him to outside, but he likes the pads too. I've been using the washable pads though. My DH gets them off of Ebay (can't think of the sellers name at the moment) I get a pack of 4 pads that are about 30 x 30 for $18. She usually lists for $20 but we offer a bit lower and she takes it. If anyone wants the ebayer name, just PM me and I'll look it up.
