I think you've already made the right decision about the so-called trainer but I did want to add one thing. Sixteen weeks is not a bad amount of time for a puppy to stay with their breeder. I got Sadie at 16 weeks and she was really well socialized from the other dogs at the breeder and from their family. I put her in puppy class and she has done great. My vet is impressed by how well socialized she is. They all have different personalities and she may be a little more shy and reserved but I doubt it's from her staying with her breeder.
