Woops! I'm sorry, I just emailed my sister-n-law and this ISN'T what she did!
She said she doesn't recommend this AT ALL because she feels it guarantees injuries!
She just started doing small intervals of running & walking at her own pace while adding in longer runs and it's worked great for her without any injuries!
