Where does your Mom live? I'm assuming you'll want to be close to her. Or perhaps she'll be moving in with you. The job market is not as bad here as in other areas of the country, so hopefully you can find something that fits. If you are looking to stay in the Correctional Facilities line of work, there's nearly always openings in one of the several surrounding suburbs. Also, you might want to look into Security work. The Security companies are always looking for reliable workers and I've not really seen a decline in their employment.
There are a lot of YT'ers in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, so I'm sure wherever you end up there will be someone to help you find a new vet, groomer, pet stores, dog parks, etc. And now's a good time to move here weather-wise too. Our 100+ degree days are over for the year and it's getting back to enjoyable outside weather again.
