Nick Update We brought Nicky home Saturday and he is doing great. He is an affectionate sweetie who somehow hasn't lost his faith in humans. I call him my zen dog because he keeps me grounded. If I have an urge to yell at the kids, I think of Nicky and about how that will scare him (they think there was domestic violence in his prior home) and I stop myself. He just wants to be held and snuggled and he's already attached to me. Sadie and Joey are doing well with him. They give him space which is good. The whole situation was so meant to be. I am a survivor of domestic violence and I volunteer at our local family shelter so adopting and giving Nicky a third chance at life (he lived in a puppy mill in Texas until he was 3) is even more poignant to me. |
