Wow as a teenager this is a lot to take on. Even as a young adult I would get the advise of someone wiser than myself. Being a nursing student, my thoughts go straight to "GO TO THE DOCTOR!" There are also other community outreach programs that are available for the family in these times of hardship. Things such as food stamps, health care, shelter, can be found for people going through hard times (most are more readily available to families). Telling you parents is the first step I would take. How are you receiving this information from your friend? Is she still in school? If your parents are unsure how to help, tell an advisor/dean/teacher/adult you trust what is going on.

I hope someone is able to help you and your friend.
