My 9 month old yorkie, Dexter, had great ears that stood as they were supposed to. They have always seemed large to me, but yorkies do tend to have large ears some times. About 2 weeks ago, his ears flopped, changing his looks completely. He was still as cute as ever, but I was puzzled. I did a google search on this topic and read about calcium, hair, etc. One of the suggestions as to trim their ears by shaving the sides and upper 1/3. I was skeptical, as his hair didn't appear to be too long. Well, I did get a hold of them and the hair was at least 1 inch past his ears with past trimming. I shaved them up and cut the backs closely. Immediately they stood right back up. I was amazed and delighted!
