I have to disagree with that - it does have
something to do with stopping it. I've read a lot of stories where after dogs got neutered, the marking lessened or got better, etc. And most all dogs who were neutered before 6 months of age (or before reaching sexual maturity) NEVER or hardly mark. So it's got something to do with it.
I do agree that if it's already become a learned, habitual behavior, neutering will not automatically stop it. You have to remember also it can take months for the testosterone to fully get out of their system.
I feel the reason this dog is marking indoors is because there's another un-neutered male in the house, and that creates competition. I would suggest to get both dogs neutered and see what happens. I agree with one of the posted above that it's like potty training though too... when you see them doing it, say NO, and take them to the place they're supposed to go. Just watch them 24/7. I believe they can be trained not to mark but it takes a lot of work and patience and time. Some people may disagree with me that they can be trained not to do it.
