If I understand it correctly, she warned her daughter to not be on the couch with Bijou, but to sit on the floor if she wanted Bijou to be with her. I've had to give the same warning several times to my DH - who is considerably older then 17

Gennie, I'm sure your daughter is beside herself with remorse and agree that she doesn't need to be grounded to make the point. Perhaps by learning this lesson now, she will be able to avoid a worse accident in the future.
