I'm sorry to hear that Bijou's leg is broken. its never easy to handle this and your gonna have your hands full even more so being that she is a puppy.

Its good that she is having surgery done by an orthopedic surgeon. From my experience ER doctors are good at what they do in emergencies but just like regular vets they cannot set fractures. The ones that worked at the place i did (sounds like the same type of set up where your girl is) were great vets and very kind but you could totally tell the difference between a ER splint and a orthopedic splint. So Bijou is in great hands. i'm sorry she didn't go into surgery until late in the day but unfortunately that's the way it is. The surgeon has surgeries that are booked each day so non-life threatening same days or transfers (from overnight er) get done last. Booked appointments and life threatening surgeries have priority, at least that's the way it was at my place.
I'm sure you'll hear from the vet real soon and Bijou will be in recovery. Its best that she is staying overnight because i'm sure she'll be on great pain meds and IV fluids. Since she's young and tiny she needs to be monitored 24/7 after a major surgery like that.
