I lived for years in what is called the "bible belt" here is BC, and the attitude that animals are nothing(all animals) but a product to be used and given by God was the norm. It disgusted me and I am glad I do not live in that area any longer.

Someone said (I think it was Rachel) that these ideas were part of their upbringing. It is true and therefore next to impossible to change unless it starts with the children.
