You could sweeten the water a bit and see if that helps.

If he seems shaky/lethargic/sickly - I'd probably take him to vet for a stool sample. He may just have a tummy bug too.

Otherwise, if you think this is just food - do you still have the old food? If yes, you could try putting him back on that and see what happens.
